Hry soldier martyred in Kashmir encounter; we stand with family, says CM

Jind: A pall of gloom has engulfed Kaithal's Rohera village after a 28-year-old Army Jawan, Narender Singh, was martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Kashmir. At around around 3 pm on Monday, his cousin Satish received a call from an Army official in Kashmir, informing the family of his martyrdom. Narender Singh's mortal remains will be brought to the village on Wednesday, where he will be cremated with full state honours. His mother, Roshni Devi, is in deep shock, while his father, Dalbir Singh—a farmer with two acres of land—is extremely emotional after receiving the tragic news. Doctors are currently attending to him, as he lost consciousness upon hearing of his son's martyrdom. Narender is survived by one younger brother and two elder sisters, both of whom are married. His younger brother works in the United States and moved there just a year ago. Discussions for Narender's marriage were underway, and the wedding was expected to take place next year. But now, the joyous atmosphere in the home has turned into mourning. Narender's other cousin, Dharmpal, shared that on Sunday evening, he spoke to his parents over the phone. His mother, Roshni Devi, asked when he would come home, to which he replied that if he gets leave during Diwali, he would come home to celebrate the festival. But destiny had other plans.About six months ago, Narender, along with his younger brother, built a new house. Now, only their parents are left. Upon hearing the news of his martyrdom, his brother in the US was deeply shocked. However, the family said that it would be difficult for him to return to the village at this time. Narender Singh served in the Indian Army for the past seven years. For the last two years, he was posted in Kashmir, and visited the village just two months ago on leave. His family says that Narender always prioritised serving the nation above everything else, and they are proud that he sacrificed his life while defending the motherland. Rajesh Malik, a villager, shared that Narender dreamt of joining the Army since childhood. Before recruitment, he used to train with two of his close friends, and by coincidence, all three were selected together. Narender was known as a very polite and well-mannered young man, who got along with everyone. The Army informed the family that his mortal remains have now reached Ambala. His final rites will be conducted with full state honours at 9 am on Wednesday.Writing a post on X, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini said that "a brave son of Haryana's soil from village Rohera attained martyrdom in an encounter with terrorists in Kulgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
